Recently, we came across an online article “Yes, There Is a Right Way to Hold a Wine Glass”. Rather than get caught up in a “right way” versus a “wrong way” glass-holding discussion, let us first say that we are simply happy to know that you are enjoying your wine.
Now, of course, we realize that there are high-end wine snobs who may look askance at us when we might place our hands around the bowl instead of the stem. But unless the wines you are drinking are so special and so delicate that the few degrees difference (if even that amount) from warmth of your hand may bring to the wine will dramatically alter its taste, we will continue to let others focus on how to hold the glass. That may happen, but its not what we spend our time or our energies worrying about. So, what does matter to us when it comes to your wine glass? Helping each wine, no matter the price point, no matter the wine type, achieve its stated tasteful purpose for you and your guests has always been our main goal at Stölzle. So, go ahead and hold your glass however you like. But, always enjoy the wine. After all, for more than 130 years now, we have always put our attention towards making sure our glasses perform to their peak and deliver the proper flavor profile that you and your guests are looking for. Maximizing the enjoyment and the experience is what it's all about. More smile on more faces. #BornInFire #StoelzleForLife And, just in case you are wondering if you are holding your wine glass correctly, here’s a link to the article: https://news.yahoo.com/yes-way-hold-wine-glass-162412232.html The world of rum is a wide-ranging and fascinating story with such a diversity of flavor profiles there must be a rum for nearly everyone’s tastes. From Puerto Rico to Jamaica, from Venezuela to Demera in Guyana, rums are geographically – and especially, flavor-wise very diverse. Rums are also produced around the globe in other sugar-producing regions such as The Philippines and Taiwan. In fact, rum’s greatest strength is perhaps its versatility, and diversity, with product types that range from white rum and black rum to dark rum, proof+ rum, along with spiced and flavored rums. There’s even rhum agricole. Each rum type and flavor unique to itself with curious millennials leading the way in exploring each flavor and nuance.
So, the next time you are suggesting a premium rum to your guest, make sure you #respectyourrum and serve it up properly in our 7 oz. Rum Tasting Glass. Your guests will notice the difference.

But – just being honest – our heart belongs to reds. And reds of all types. And we realize that many out there feel exactly the same way about their whites. We get it. That’s why the recent article by the online site Drizly caught our attention: 5 Red Wines for White Wine Drinkers. In case you’re not familiar with Drizly, besides being a favorite of ours, they are the largest online marketplace for alcohol in North America. On the Drizly website it states that their “purpose is to be there when it matters – committed to life's moments and the people who create them. We partner with thousands of retailers in more than 1,400 cities to empower them to grow their businesses and make our customers' good times better. Drizly is available to 100M+ customers and counting across the U.S. and Canada.” Back to the topic at-hand, “red wines for white wine drinkers” our thoughts are “Why should someone have to choose? Why not enjoy both?
So, if you happen to be one of those die-hard white wine lovers, we completely understand. But, if you read the Drizly article and decide you might want to try a red wine once in a while (or maybe serve them to your guests) consider our EXPERIENCE collection as a glass that will bring out the best in whichever wine you are serving.

Here’s what the DisneyFoodBlog.com has to say about this Master Sommelier-run restaurant: “Wine Bar George is the only Master Sommelier-owned wine bar in the state of Florida. The “George” in Wine Bar George is Master Sommelier George Miliotes. Miliotes was previously best known in the Disney culinary scene as a member of the opening team of the Contemporary Resort’s signature restaurant, California Grill. The inviting 210-seat wine bar offers more than 130 choices by the ounce, bottle, and glass. A menu of small plates and shareable entrees — created in partnership with Executive Chef Ron Rupert — complements the wine selection with terrific food. And the Wine Country Brunch is an option for guests on Saturdays and Sundays. Wine Bar George never fails to impress, and provides a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere to wine novices and connoisseurs alike.” Great wine and great food, served by some of the nicest people you will meet while on your vacation. All served a casual and straightforward manner. And, we are very proud to say that the team at Wine Bar George are long-time, loyal fans of Stölzle glassware.
So, the next time you are headed down Orlando way – whether you’re on vacation or simply looking for an enjoying meal, put Wine Bar George in Disney Springs at the top of your list. Last week, the UK-based newspaper The Guardian ran an article by wine expert Fiona Beckett on how to improve your chances of doing that with one of our favorite varietals, pinot noir. And now, even if the specific wines mentioned in the newspaper story are not available where you shop, another thought might be is to look for other pinot noirs or burgundies from these same regions that might be of good value. Hopefully, you’ll find success.

The special feature of this series is the fineness of the glass. Nevertheless, they are extremely resistant to breakage.

Now, we appreciate the idea that The Manual and the articles author - J. Fergus - are trying to educate and make whiskey more understandable and approachable to novice drinkers. The article is filled with informative sections like "What Is Whiskey", "Enjoying Whiskey Neat or with Water" and Whiskey Cocktails. But, we would offer up an alternative 3-step educational "keep it simple" practice that would start with: Step 1: Selecting the perfect whiskey glass to begin your journey into beverage excellence. That's where we can help. With our wide range starting with the world's most popular Glencairn Glass (The Modern even used a silhouette of this best seller in its article), our own Nosing Glass (above) and a wide assortment of Tumblers, Stölzle has just the right glass whether you are starting out "neat" or with a little water or ice.
Step 2: Select the right whiskey that fits in both your palate - and your pocketbook. For the palate part, ask your local friendly professional bartender - that's why they are the pros - for their recommendation. After all, they know you best, right? For the pocketbook part, don't overspend. Overspending in the beginning can be easy to do. Don't fall prey, as you can always upgrade your spending later. For now, keep it simple. Step 3: Relax and enjoy. Both by yourself and with friends. However you enjoy your whiskey. Remember not to overthink the process and definitely don't drink to impress anyone but yourself and your own personal tastes. Here's a link to the article from The Modern: https://www.themanual.com/food-and-drink/how-to-drink-whiskey/www.themanual.com/food-and-drink/how-to-drink-whiskey/ Remember. Simple and straightforward. That's what we like. More smile on more faces. #BornInFire #StoelzleForLife
